Each consulate words the flight-itinerary requirement slightly differently. Pick your destination for the exact wording, the documents that go with it and the mistakes that cost people their appointment.
What a dummy ticket is, and why embassies ask for one
Almost every visa application form has a line asking when you intend to arrive and when you intend to leave. The consulate needs to see that those dates are real — that you have looked up flights, that the route exists, that your stay fits inside the visa you are asking for. The document that proves it is a flight itinerary.
Here is the awkward part. A visa decision can take two to six weeks. Airline fares move constantly, and the cheap fares are the non-refundable ones. If you buy a ticket in week one and your visa is refused in week five, you lose most of what you paid. So consulates tell applicants, in writing, not to buy tickets before a decision. The Schengen states say it in their checklists. The UK says it. Canada says it. And then the same checklist asks for your travel itinerary.
A held reservation resolves that contradiction. The airline blocks a seat on a real flight under a real booking reference and holds it, unpaid, for a short window. You get the itinerary document — the same PDF you would get after buying — showing the route, the flight numbers, the dates and the record locator. The consulate can verify it. You have committed nothing. That document is what people mean by a dummy ticket, a dummy flight ticket, or a flight reservation for visa.
What it is not
It is not a boarding pass and it will not get you through a departure gate. It is not a purchased ticket, and we never present it as one — the status field says reserved, because that is what it is and that is what the consulate expects to read. And it is emphatically not a PDF from a free "dummy ticket generator", where a template is filled with an invented six-character code that resolves to nothing when checked. Those documents are the reason some missions now verify every itinerary they receive, and submitting one is treated as misrepresentation, which follows you across future applications.
When you need one
- Tourist and visitor visas. The most common case. Schengen, UK Standard Visitor, US B1/B2, Canada TRV, Australia subclass 600 — all ask for intended travel dates backed by an itinerary.
- Proof of onward travel at check-in. Airlines are fined when they carry a passenger a destination refuses to admit, so they check for onward or return travel before they let you board. A held reservation satisfies that check on visa-free and visa-on-arrival routes.
- Passport renewal and re-issue. Tatkaal and urgent-category passport applications often need evidence of imminent travel.
- Student and work visa appointments. Where the interview needs an indicative travel plan before the offer is finalised.
- Business and conference visas. Where the invitation letter and the itinerary have to agree on dates.
How we issue yours
When your order comes in, a real person checks it. Names are compared against the format used in passport machine-readable zones — given names first, surname exactly as printed, no nicknames or initials. The route is checked for whether the carrier actually operates it on your dates; a January itinerary on a seasonal summer-only route is the kind of detail that gets an application a second look. Then the seat is held through a GDS and the itinerary is generated with the live record locator on it.
Before you walk into your appointment, verify it yourself. Open the operating airline's "manage booking" page, enter the surname and the record locator, and see your own reservation come up. It takes thirty seconds and it removes the only thing worth worrying about.
If you can look up your own reservation on the airline's website, so can the visa officer — and that is the entire point of paying ₹799 instead of nothing.

What exactly is a dummy ticket?
A dummy ticket is a real flight reservation held with an airline under a live PNR (record locator), issued as a proper itinerary PDF but not paid for in full. Embassies accept it as proof of your intended travel dates and route. It shows your name exactly as on your passport, the flight numbers, the airline and the booking reference — everything a visa officer checks — without you spending ₹60,000 on a ticket before your visa is approved.
Is the PNR on my ticket verifiable?
Yes. Every reservation we issue carries a live record locator that can be checked on the operating airline's own website or on a GDS lookup tool such as CheckMyTrip. That is the single difference between what we issue and a free PDF generator, and it is the thing that gets applications rejected when people use fakes.
How long does my reservation stay valid?
Reservations are held for 10 to 14 days from the date of issue as standard, which comfortably covers a normal visa appointment and decision window. If your appointment is further out, tell us the date you need it live and we will schedule the issue accordingly at no extra cost — that is what the 'date to receive' field on the booking form is for.
Is using a dummy ticket for a visa application legal?
Yes. Embassies ask for proof of intended travel, not proof of purchase. Most consulates, including the Schengen states, explicitly advise applicants not to buy non-refundable tickets before a decision is made. A held reservation is the standard, expected answer to that instruction. What is not acceptable is a forged document with an invented booking reference — which is precisely what we do not issue.

Can I get a reservation for my whole family in one order?
Yes. Add every traveller on the booking form using the 'Add another traveller' button — each one needs their name as printed on their passport, date of birth and nationality. All travellers appear on one itinerary under the same booking reference, which is how consulates prefer to see a family application.
